On the 6th of December, the major event called Rubson Raid Turquoise had it's sixt version near the islands of Phuket, Thailand. Being a race with 20 similar 7,5 meter long RIBs cruising about 50 knots (90 kmph) across the ocean, you can imagen this is a very cool event. And I was there, being the navigator on The Dutch Connection 1!The 6th of December, the day has come that the adventure called Rubson Raid Turquoise will start again. 5 Dutch teams have left for Thailand, to participate in one of the most adventurous and exciting water sports events of the world, The Rubson Raid Turquoise!
On the 9th of December, at 14.00 hours, there was the kick-off in the Marina Royal in Phuket. With two hours to fully prepare the boats, after which we took of to the first stopover in our week of adventure, Ko Rang Yai.
The whole story of the week can be read on www.rubsonraid.nl. Sorry for the English speaking, so far the reports are only available in Dutch. Hopefully I will find the time to write a full English version of the Rubson Raid Turqouise adventures on this page.
Most important is, however, that we have had an amazing week. With a sea that was reletively calm, it was hard to make a huge difference with the actuale racing with the RIB's. With a higher part of the other sports like Superjetting, beachrunning, swimming, diving and climbing, we had to make the difference. And as being the "Equipe d'Hollande", we did.
